Trip Planning Details and Useful Information

Clothing and Equipment: Fishbone Charters can provide all fishing equipment and terminal tackle. For a list of our standard inclusions and exclusions, please visit our "services" page. In addition to the fishing equipment we recommend the following:

  • Synthetic pants
  • Synthetic shirt, short and long sleeve
  • windshirt or fleece
  • waterproof rain jacket
  • Small backpack or bag for personal items
  • Water
  • Food for the outing (half or full day) *
  • Wool or synthetic socks
  • Bug repellent, DEET recommended
  • sun hat or visor
  • Camera
  • Sun screen
  • Sun glasses, polarized recommended
  • AK State Fishing license **
  • A good attitude and willingness to have fun!

*Fishbone Charters can arrange for brown bag lunches for your trip. The cost will be $15 per person and we will need to know in advance whether or not you will want us to plan the food for your day of fishing.

**There are a few places in Talkeetna to purchase an AK State Fishing License. If you are able to do this in advance of your trip, this would be ideal. If you are not, we can help you arrange that on the day of, but it may delay our departure.

Your Fish: Before we go fishing, you will need to have a plan for what you are going to do with your fish. Do you plan to catch and release or keep your salmon? We can help you arrange for packaging, shipping, and smoking your fish through Talkeetna Smokehouse (www.talkeetnasmokehouse.com). The costs for this will depend on the weight of the fish and the option chose. Average packing and shipping costs are $5 per pound of fish.
